International Police Cooperation Sub-Directorate - INTERPOL National Central Bureau



INTERPOL was established in 1923 and it is the world’s largest International Police Organization with 194 member countries. It facilitates cross border police co-operation which supports and assists other organizations, authorities and services which aim to prevent and combat international crime through enhanced cooperation and innovative policing practices. The General Secretariat of Interpol is located in Lyon, France.

Cyprus became a member of INTERPOL in 1962. The National Central Bureau of Nicosia handles all matters arising from the participation of Cyprus in the International Police Organization, according to the statutes of Interpol, its Rules of Procedure, and the Constitution, in compliance with the Laws of the Republic of Cyprus.

NCB Nicosia communicates with the General Secretariat and the rest of the 193 member countries through the secure global police communication system “I 24/7”. The four official languages used by Interpol are English, French, Spanish and Arabic. NCB Nicosia correspondence is conducted in the English and French language.
