The main responsibility of the Research and Development Department is to carry out research and to develop plans for the improvement of Cyprus Police. More specifically the duties of the Department are the following:

· The promotion and application of procedures and methods that contribute to the further improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the Police.

· The development and continuous updating of existing computer services in combination with the appropriate use of personnel with the aim of strengthening the operational capabilities of the Police.

· The complete computerization of police work so that Cyprus Police acquires the necessary know-how as other European countries.

· Carrying out research and preparing informative material.
