LIBRARY

The library, is situated on the ground floor of Building C of the CPA.

The mission of the library is to support the learning and information needs, firstly of the trainees, trainers and generally the members of the Cyprus Police in a reliable information environment. In addition, it aims at serving to the best of its capabilities without affecting the needs of the institution, the general reading public, after the submission of the relevant application and issuance of the special library card for external users. At the same time, it cooperates with other training institutions and public libraries in Cyprus for exchange of information material.

Library Material

The collection of the CPA library, which is updated on a regular basis with quality publications, always aiming at promoting the training offered at the Police Academy, includes more than 12000 items.

All members have access to and may search for material on the online library catalog (Online Public Access Catalog - ΟPΑC) using the link http://opac.government.libraries.gov.cy. After they enter their membership number as a username and their password, they can manage their library account.

In addition, after an agreement between the C.P.A. library and the Library of the Open University Cyprus (OUC), the OUC provides members of the C.P.A. Library, electronic access to more than 89.000ebooks, 49.000 electronic journals (access is granted within the CPA library).

Borrowing rights

Borrowing rights are granted to students and personnel of the Cyprus Police and the Fire Service, including those who retired, after they apply for and obtain a library card. The library card is personal.

External users (non-police members) have access to library material, however, without borrowing rights, unless the Director of the Cyprus Police Academy gives permission for this.

In this case they are issued a special external user three-month library card.
