The team is charged with the installation, maintenance and repair of electronic security systems in Police buildings and the installations of individuals that are included in the witness protection programme. Some of these systems concern closed circuit television (CCTV), alarm systems against burglary and fire, as well as access control systems etc.
Besides the above, this team is responsible for examining evidence that concerns the systems in question and testifying accordingly before the court.
Additionally, this team is charged with the examination of evidence that concerns illegal racehorse bets, gambling with the use of slot machines, devices that mimic the sounds of birds used in the poaching, sound systems used in cases of noise pollution as well as any other electronic appliances, which may constitute an exhibit in the investigation of a case.
Moreover, the members of the team keep up to date with technological developments that relate to the Police and through the process of tenders attend to the import and implementation of new systems.
Some of these systems are the following: the satellite system for the determination of location known as G.P.S, the system of automatic vehicle number plate recognition known as (A.N.P.R.), videoconference systems, transport of sound and picture via satellite connection systems etc.
