The Message Control Centre receives, on a daily basis, hundreds of phone calls and messages from citizens, which are mainly complaints, reports, information and calls for help. The Officer on Duty at the Message Control Centre is responsible for evaluating the information and reports that are received and deciding how each incident will be handled.
The Officer on Duty is also responsible for the Emergency Response Squad, which patrols the town and its suburbs on a 24-hour basis, ensuring that there is immediate police response to various incidents and alarm calls from banks, stores etc. which are connected to the central switchboard.
