In accordance with EU regulations, the Internal Security Fund has been set up for the new 2014-2020 programming period to provide financial support to Member States. Financial assistance provided by the EU should support police cooperation, information exchange and access to information, crime prevention, the suppression of cross-border, serious and organised crime, including terrorism, corruption, drug trafficking, trafficking in human beings and weapons, the exploitation of illegal immigration, the sexual exploitation of children, the distribution of images of child abuse and child pornography , cybercrime, money laundering, the protection of individuals and critical infrastructure against security-related incidents, as well as effective management of security-related risks and crises, taking into account common policies, legislation and practical cooperation.

The Cyprus Police is a beneficiary for the above funds in accordance with the Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020.
